ipod my photo - great gift idea!

How cool is this - ipod my photo will take a digital photo you provide, and turn it into an iPod advert-style sillouette image for just $19.95! Clever idea - I think it's important to support these small businesses with iPod-related ideas, don't you?

DVD Recorder

Finally decided to ditch the old VHS and go completely digital. Not only am I taking advantage of Blockbuster's great unlimited DVD rental offer, I'm also getting a DVD Recorder for Christmas*. Will be strange to use VideoPlus+ to record Coronation Street onto a blank disc! The DVDs it produces can be played on normal DVD players.

* Subject to the standard Santa Claus terms and conditions, namely that I've "been a good boy this year"

Firefox interview

Here's an interview with one of the developers of the Firefox web browser. He makes some interesting points about Firefox's challenge to beat the dominant Internet Explorer.

DVD Recorder with built-in Freeview tuner

Could be an interesting product this one. I've been looking for a Sky+ style PVR for Freeview and there hasn't really been anything remotely like it. I also like DVD recorders but have been disappointed that they all have normal analogue tuners. Until now. This Sony DVD recorder can record on any DVD format imaginable and features 'Chasing Playback', just like Sky+ you can start watching a programme while it is still being recorded.

Next business idea...

This is an absolute goldmine waiting to happen. Riding on the popularity of the Apple iPod, services are popping up all over the place that will take your entire CD/vinyl collection and convert it all to MP3. Services differ at this point - they either burn everything onto data DVDs or actually load up your iPod. Here's an article about this phenomenon. HungryPod sounds the most interesting (they actually drive to your house to pick up the CDs), but RipDigital shows how it can be done on a bigger scale.
It's worth pointing out that both FeedMyPod.co.uk and FeedMyiPod.co.uk (legal issue?) are currently unregistered...
I envisage offering a Greater Manchester-based service that picks up your iPod and CDs or vinyl records and comes back 4 days later with a fully-loaded iPod. With Christmas coming up, the new year would be the best time to launch/market such a service. Not sure how HungryPod actually load the iPod without having the customer's PC/Mac to hand as the iPod has to register to one computer only. I've dropped them an email and await their response.

The driverless car is here!

Just jump in, and let it take you for a drive! Doesn't need special roads, just a pre-programmed route, and away you go.
